Anchor
when i come to you with hammering heart, eyes wild and thoughts spiraling,
you anchor me and hold me close, offering calm refuge from my storm.
when my heart is flat and empty, mind dark, skin grey and breathing shallow,
you cradle me tenderly and murmur love in my ear, lending your smile until i remember how.
when i run to you with a too heavy heart, vulnerable and undone,
you embrace me tightly and encourage the release of sorrow.
when i rage and tear at my wounded heart, picking at scars,
you gently tether my hands and tend to my wounds.
when I’m simply lost and can’t find myself,
you gather me piece by piece, and slowly, lovingly restore me.
